I wanted my son to have a new haircut before Christmas, so after meeting
Joy Mendiola at Robinsons Galleria yesterday, off we went to my son and his Dad’s favorite barber. So I could tick off this mommy duty on my to-do list yesterday, I just made a mental note to do my research on
life insurance rate later.
Justin was cooperative throughout the entire session, but he had one condition: no hair clippers on him. A hair clipper is a mechanical or electric tool for cutting hair. He simply hates the buzzing sound of the hair clipper. Quite naturally because I brought our camera along, I had to take before and after shots of my son to capture his transformation.
Before
Almost done!
So, does he look better with his new haircut?

I've posted my entry early just in case I won't be able to use our PC tonight.
Justin had his first two
haircuts done at different kid’s hair salons to make these a fun time for him. His first haircut was traumatic for him, though, as he cried the whole time his head was being shaved. That was done when he was only 1 year old. We failed to take a shot of the actual haircutting, but this was how he looked like afterwards.

Justin’s second haircut happened when he was 2 years and 4 months old in preparation for a playmate’s birthday party that he was going to attend the next day. While he was still hesitant to let the barber touch his hair, he was more cooperative this time around.
Before
AfterThese days, I only bring Justin to the hair salon at the lobby of our condo where I also have my hair done. It’s more convenient for us, and it’s a lot cheaper than kid’s hair salons.

True to my promise, I have never attempted to cut my son’s hair again since the October 12, 2008 incident (Read my “
Panic 101”post.) Yesterday afternoon, we went to Kid’s Hair Salon to have Justin’s hair clipped by an expert. This is his second time to have his hair cut in a salon. The first time was when he was one year old. That wasn’t a very pleasant experience for my son. He cried all the time his head was being shaved. You heard it right. We had his head shaved because Justin had very thin hair at that time. Who was it that said that this is one strategy to make one’s hair thicker? It didn’t work wonders for my son. His hair remained exactly the way it is.
Since his first “formal” haircut was done over a year ago, we never knew what to expect of our son this time around. Would he behave the same way, or will he be more mature this time? At first, he was afraid. But the small TV screen in front of him and the kiddie car he’s riding while in front of the mirror caught his attention. Those, coupled with encouraging words from mommy and daddy and the barber, made the entire process uneventful.
Before
AfterI actually wanted Justin’s hair trimmed in preparation for this afternoon’s celebration. Justin is attending a playmate’s birthday party; that’s why. It’s his first time to attend another kid’s birthday fete. So, mommy is really excited! And mommy has to be sure her son is looking his best.
