“Cara Mia” means “my dear” in Italian, while “Gelateria” is the modern-day version of Italy’s traditional ice cream parlor. Caramia Gelateria offers gelato (Italian ice cream), gelato cakes, affogato (coffee-based dessert or beverage) and gelato shakes.

My son craved for chocolate ice cream last Friday after he’s had his hair cut, and we decided to try Caramia Gelateria at Robinsons Galleria. I bought him a scoop of Cioccolato, which cost Php75.00, and I bought a slice of Banana Blast for me.

I’m not really fond of sweets, so I never thought I’d finish the entire slice, but I did, and I wanted more! If not for my son who was raring to go home after he’s had his fill of chocolate ice cream, I would have ordered another slice of this delicious gelato cake.

Banana Blast, Php95.00/$2.00 per slice

Banana Blast is Banana, Strawberry Supreme and Cioccolato gelato with chocolate cookies crust. I love the taste of banana and chocolate on my mouth while munching on big chunks of frozen strawberries! Because I like it so much, I asked hubby to buy me another slice last Sunday. The entire cake costs Php600.00, but you can have a slice for only Php95.00.

Incidentally, did you know that gelato is made with more milk but lesser fat? This means gelato is not only richer and creamier, but it’s also healthier than ice cream.

In my previous post, I blogged about our brief stay at Ayala Triangle Gardens a.k.a. Ayala Triangle Park located on Ayala Avenue, Makati City. That’s because the weather was not agreeing with us on that day. Our time there wasn’t really wasted because we got to take pictures of us goofing around and more importantly, we were able to try Bon Chon Chicken. Hubby heard good reviews about their house specialty, so we had to taste it to believe.

French Fries, Php45.00/$1.00

I think their French Fries are overpriced. We ordered this for the little boy in case he didn’t want the chicken. You see, he’s a picky eater. He ate a few French fries, and his yaya finished the rest. I think he prefers McDonald’s and Jollibee French fries over Bon Chon Chicken’s French fries.

Left: Chicken Wings Rice Box,hot and spicy, Php135.00/$3.00; Right: Chicken Wings (6 pieces), soy garlic, Php185.00/$4.00

Hubby hadn’t had lunch yet, so I ordered Chicken Wings Rice Box, hot and spicy, for him. For the separate order of 6-piece chicken wings, we chose to have the soy garlic flavor. This way, we’d be able to sample both variants.

The hot and spicy chicken wings were too hot for us, but this will definitely be a hit for those who want their food flaming hot. We like the soy garlic chicken better because even kids can eat them. The taste is just right with a hint of sweetness.

What we like most about their chicken is they’re crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and tasty inside and out. They’re really delicious! Because we liked their chicken so much, we ended up ordering rice, too, for me and for Justin’s yaya. Do you think the most powerful appetite suppressant would work if chicken tastes this good?

You’ll also find this slogan at the counter when you order: “Meals are cooked fresh as you order.” And indeed they are! Now, isn’t that a good thing?

mommy moments

We’re supposed to show or talk about new things that were given to us as gifts last Christmas or new stuff we have bought recently as gifts for ourselves for this week’s theme of Mommy Moments, so here’s my entry.

The two Chuggington trains are gifts from his Dad and from his classmate last Christmas. The animal bonnet was a Christmas gift from his Ate Ayie, and Justin’s Dad bought our son this new pair of Transformers' rubber shoes before classes resumed this week.

My first pair of Ipanema footwear was a gift from ELRO. Thanks, Cel! I got my Ipanema sandals from Bambu store in Marquee Mall in Pampanga when we visited there a few days before Christmas.

As for hubby, I’m glad that he finally realized he needed to start exercising to keep himself physically fit. I was surprised when he went home from the mall last week with his brand new fitness equipment, his Christmas gift for himself.

Because he learned that the best way to trim down is to get physical, I don’t think he’ll ask me again what is three best diet pill on the market. Let me say that again: I don’t think hubby will ever ask me what the three best diet pills are on the market. There, that sounds better!

What about you? What new things have you received as gifts or have you bought for yourselves lately?

Last Sunday afternoon, we decided to go to Ayala Triangle Park, instead of a mall, to see what this newly renovated land park has to offer.

Our four-year-old son was raring to run, play and explore the park, but it started raining, and we had no other option but to get inside one of the dining places there to take shelter and of course, to try their house specialty. Because hubby heard a great deal about Bon Chon Chicken, we decided to try that first. I’ll have a separate post on that in the coming days.

It was still raining after we’ve eaten, so we had to abruptly end our very short stay at Ayala Triangle Park to go to Glorietta Mall instead. The little boy’s spirit was dampened, and so we had to find a way to bring the smile back to his now grouchy face.

To our surprise, the children’s playground at the Glorietta Activity Center was not there anymore. It’s a good thing that there’s a fun activity for kids that day—the big animal ride. A three-minute ride on these animals cost Php20.00; at Robinsons Galleria, the price is only Php10.00 per ride. I wonder if location has something to do with the price variance.

Is my little boy happy now? What do you think?
