Brazilian-born model Gisele Bundchen is the designated Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). As Goodwill Ambassador, Gisele Bundchen helps UNEP raise awareness about the major threats to our planet-- such as climate change and environmental degradation--and move people to do something to help protect the environment.

The Ipanema Gisele Bundchen’s latest summer collection, the Hot Sands Collection, supports the Instituto Socioambiental (ISA), a Socio-environmental Institute in Brazil, with its Fight Against Climate Change Central Strategy, a program that proposes that we all think about what we can do right now, in practice, to improve our lives.

This is my official entry to the “Humor Me Makoy Contest.” I have been following Makoy’s blog, and I consider his “Funny Corned Beef Story” post the funniest because it shows that it’s better to keep your food to yourself than be generous when you’re living on a tight budget or you’ll starve! Wahahaha! This post is also filled with wits. On the kids’ part, it shows how the flesh is stronger than the spirit. Because they like Purefoods corned beef so much, they simply couldn’t resist the urge to get their fill of your delicious fare to the point where you’re left with almost nothing. It’s a good thing that you’re not really hungry at that time. LOL! That post also articulates the point that it’s human nature to crave for what others have. The kids already have chicken, but it’s your corned beef that they want. Finally and most importantly, your post shows how Filipinos, no matter where they are in the world, are certified corned beef lovers.

And this is my own funny story: This incident happened last December 2009. At 3 years and 5 months old, our son Justin was already adept at using both our desktop and laptop in playing online games, watching his favorite YouTube videos, etc. He prefers using the laptop, though, because he says everything is so much faster there. That’s because our poor desktop has been with us for 5 years already and was running on very low memory.

At exactly 5pm from Mondays to Fridays, Justin takes over mommy’s place in front of our laptop. There are days, however, when he would insist that it’s his turn to use our laptop already when I wasn't done with work yet, such as what transpired on this particular work day when he woke up from his afternoon nap crying.

Justin: Mommy, I want to use the laptop.

Mommy: You can’t, baby, mommy’s still working.

This conversation went on for a few more minutes until I got fed up with his whining and decided to use our desktop to give way to my overly demanding son.

Mommy: Justin, that’s mommy and daddy’s laptop. It’s not yours!

Justin: You buy your own laptop, mommy!

I was flabbergasted to hear my preschooler utter those words.

Enchie of Sweet Nothings and Yami of Mom Writes for a Cause gave me this tag, which is actually a contest sponsored by Cathara Main.

Here are the rules:
1. Blog about ‘How old is old?’
It should be at least 50 words. You could write it in any way you want. Ex., 65, it’s when most people retire and blah blah… or when an individual is already sexually active etc, etc. There are no rules as to how daring you want your answers to be. :)

2. Your post must contain a link back to this post.

3. Tag at least 5 people and let them know about it.

4. Subscribe to Cathara’s feeds or if you got a blog roll, exchange links with her.

5. Let Cathara know that you entered this contest by leaving a link to your post on her comment box.

How old is old?
Here's my response: Numbers don’t really tell much if a person is old or not. They’re simply figures. You can be fifty but still feel thirty. I guess one is considered old when s/he is no longer childlike. My father is sixty-six, but when he plays with my three-year-old son Justin, he morphs into a tyke, displaying the characteristics of playfulness, innocence, and candor that befit a child. A person can also be considered old when s/he no longer enjoys the seemingly insignificant things in life. When you’re still able to appreciate the sunshine or the rain, be thankful for the air you breathe, or marvel at God’s creations, then whatever your age, you’ll forever be young at heart. Finally and most importantly, a person is considered old when s/he doesn’t look forward to the future. Perhaps, you’ll meet up with a friend tomorrow or you’ll go on a date with your spouse this weekend or you’ll spend precious bonding moment with your child tonight. You anticipate things like these because they add meaning and mirth to your life. Whatever makes you happy makes you young. So, being old is all a matter of perspective. As for myself, I’m forever stuck at twenty.

Now, I’m tagging the following people: Phoebe, Shy, Laine, Cecile, and Genejosh.

the mommy journey

Chris’ The Mommy Journey is turning 1 on September 10, and she’s giving away fun prizes for everyone.

Mommy Moments is the only weekly meme I’ve joined since I became a blogger. Why? It’s something close to my heart. I’m a mother myself, and I would love to share our family stories/photos/experiences with other mommies out there inasmuch as I would love to listen to the stories other mommies have to tell.
