Last week, Justin was given his piece for their reading recital which will happen in February. The parents are supposed to train their children to read at home until they can master their piece. Justin’s reading piece is a nursery rhyme entitled “If All the Seas Were One Sea.”

If all the Seas Were One Sea

If all the seas were one sea,
What a great sea that would be!
If all the trees were one tree,
What a great tree that would be!

If all the axes were one axe,
What a great axe that would be!
If all the men were one man,
What a great man he would be!

And if the great man took the great axe,
And cut down the great tree,
And let it fall into the great sea,
What a great splash-splash that would be!

Justin read his first book last September 2010, and it comes as no surprise to us that he can read his assigned material after several practices. He has actually memorized his reading piece already. One of his teachers even told me last week when I dropped him off at his classroom that Justin reads well. Now, that made me a proud momma!

Justin has also been practicing writing the big and small letters of the alphabet and his full name at home. These are his finished products that he showed me the other day.

Justin is 4 1/2 years old and is a pre-kindergartner.

that is great. my daughter Wrozlie is 5 and she doesn't go to school yet, so she doesn't know how to read. But I know once she starts Kindergarten this August, she will read in no time. :)

You are one proud mommy! You must be very excited to watch him on his recital day!

hello! i had to do a research myself about the difference between recorder and flute. Apparently the difference could be the sound/ key range... I am not a musician so I don;t know much. haha! and also the number of holes differ. Gaya2x lang ako kay hubby, recorder ang tawag. nice entry too.. you should be proud of your boy. Hay, makes me miss my 4 year old boy too. Di bale, will be seeing them again very soon. And they will be staying with us for good na.

wow! congratulations mommy! a good reader at 4 1/2 :D you must be so proud! :d we are very happy for you :)

wow galing naman! For sure you are very proud of your son. Yung anak ko nga, medyo tamad pa magbasa at bulol pa, pero he was able to recite a 4 liner poem early this school year, he was able to memorize it.

Congrats, he learns fast! Reading and writing are indeed great achievements.

Btw, what happened to your EC? I got "no such user" when I dropped just now.

Happy weekend mommy!

That's great! My toddler can't even master her ABCs yet but she's good in puzzles.
