Last Sunday, August 1, was our 14th wedding anniversary. I didn’t realize we have been together that long. For two strong headed and stubborn people to have stayed together for 14 years is already an accomplishment. I remember how I had a hard time adjusting to married life, rather to living with a person who knows nothing about household chores and who’s so insensitive he always doesn’t know what I’m fuming about. I have to spell out everything so he’ll get my point exactly! Isn’t that frustrating? But I’m not perfect myself, so I guess that evens out everything. Wow! It took me 14 years to realize that!

What Brought Us Together
Initially, it’s our love of food and eating that brought us closer together. Also, simple things in life make us happy. When we were still boyfriend-girlfriend, our favorite pastime is watching movies and dining in fast food restaurants, particulary KFC, because that’s all our meager salaries at that time can afford. LOL! We’re also both very loyal. Not once have I caught him cheating on me and vice versa. Although we’re not very religious, we’re sensible people and we follow the golden rule: not doing unto others what we don’t want others to do unto us. Finally, and most importantly, for both of us, family comes first.

What I Like about My Husband
While he won’t buy me gifts on his own, he wants me to get the best gift for any occasion. He’s not rich, but he doesn’t scrimp when he spends for his gifts for me or my son. I remember it was my 28th birthday in January 2000 and he brought me to a jewelry shop to find something I like. I found a diamond necklace with matching earrings, which cost around 10,000 at that time. I was hesitant to buy them because they’re too expensive, but he purchased the items for me. He was even encouraging me to buy the diamond ring to complete the set, but I declined because I don’t want him to have a hard time paying for our purchase. Now, I’m regretting that decision because when we went to the same jewelry shop a few years ago, the price of the entire set doubled. LOL!

What I Hope for Our Marriage
I would love to see us grow old together and be able to provide well for our one and only son. It is also my hope that all three of us, my husband, me, and my son will have a strong spiritual and religious faith that will keep our family intact through good times and bad.

Happy Anniversary, Daddy! Justin and I love you! Mwah!
