It was past 12am today that we all woke up to the sound of the howling winds outside, that despite our windows all tightly closed. Even my four-year-old son rose from his sleep, and we all stayed awake until past 3am. Shards of broken glasses even reached our terrace, and to think we’re on the fifth floor!

I called my parents to check how they were doing and hang up only when I learned they were fine. Because there was no electricity, too, we were all finding it hard to go back to sleep without the air conditioner and electric fan on. My son sweats a lot, so he needs both to keep him cool and comfortable during sleep.

At around 2am, we were all startled when our building’s fire alarm system started ringing. I tried calling the guard station at the building lobby, but the number was busy. My husband went out to see what was going on, and he saw a lot of people going down the stairs.

We were about to go down, too, when a man who came from the direction we’re supposed to be going told us it was false alarm. Apparently, the fire alarm system was grounded and mistook the smoke from the fogging that just recently took place for a fire. Thank heavens that all’s well! Hope everyone is safe.

2 pensive thought/s:

the recent typhoon really caused all of us to a sleepless night... im glad that you and your family are safe!

Thank God that nothing happened. I was up late too, since my small house is surrounded by big trees, I was alert and observing. I'm thankful that everyone is safe.
