If you think acne affects only teenagers, think again! Everyone can have acne, even adults. I had my share of adult acne when I was pregnant with my son, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Some of the causes of adult acne are stress, hormones, bad cosmetics, and birth control pills. Stress and hormones cause hyperactive sebaceous glands that can lead to acne breakouts. Bad cosmetics may result in bacteria-laden skin pores, while birth control pills have androgens (male hormones) that can also cause adult acne. There are ways to prevent adult acne, however, which includes (1) using a gentle facial cleanser every day, (2) exfoliating two to three times a week, (3) keeping the skin hydrated at all times, (4) eating a healthy diet, (5) lowering your stress level, and last but not least, (6) finding the right treatment. Can you suggest any adult acne treatments that I can try?
